1. What is The Great Food Guide?

Have you ever been out, looking for somewhere to eat, and can't find anywhere, or don't know what the food is like? If you have, the Great Food Guide is for you! Your one stop shop for reviews of restaurants, pubs, cafes, bistros, bars, fast food joints - pretty much anywhere you can eat out in the United Kingdom!

2. How are you different from all the other restaurant review sites?

How are we different from everyone else? We let YOU review the places you eat at - so the reviews you read are written by real people eating real food. Michelin stars and AA rosettes may not mean much to you, so if you want to know if the food is good for what you're paying, the standards of facilities and service, even the menu, then you're at the right place. Also, most of the other websites and guides available only list the expensive top end places - we're going to list them all!

3. Why list all places and not just the good ones?

Most guides are to the "Top Restaurants in London" or "Hand picked English restaurants!". These are all great guides, but they only list expensive places to eat. This is great - but not everyone can afford to eat out at these places, and there are thousands of great places to each in the United Kingdom that don't cost the earth to go to. Also, we list types of places that others don't - we don't just limit you to resturants and gastro pubs.

4. What on earth is a gastro pub?

An expensive one that tries to pass itself off as a restaurant with higher prices and fancier food than your typical traditional pub grub.

5. Why do you list places to eat that have bad reviews?

The reasons for this are twofold - first of all, we want people to be able to see how good or bad a place is to eat at. Secondly, if a place to eat is doing pretty badly, then we'd like to help the owner or proprieter of that place know - and if the people who eat there review it and tell us why it's bad, then the owner can listen to the reviews and hopefully fix what's wrong, and ultimately start getting good reviews.

6. So how do I use this site?

If you want to search for a place to eat, use the links to the left, and Search for a Place To Eat By Placename A to Z, Search for a Place To Eat By Placename A to Z, or Search for a Place To Eat By Place Type. Or, if you have been to a Place To Eat that you want to tell us about, Submit a New Place To Eat.

7. Your site won't let me add a new place to eat or a full review, why?

You need to register an account on this site to add a place to eat, or to add a full review. It is completely free to sign up an account, and will take about 2 minutes! Register Here.
